I love color - especially the lush, rich colors of South Louisiana. Maybe it is due to my upbringing in the cold Midwest - born and raised in Chicago. I have always loved color, design and crafts, but when I moved to New Orleans, there was a shift in my perception - everything seemed more vibrant and the colors came through so strongly. I was inspired to try to capture the light and beauty that was all around me - even in the middle of winter!
I dabbled in art throughout my adult life, all the while raising 3 fabulous children and making a home with my amazing husband. Inspired by my husband's gardens, I took workshops, painted and did crafts and collected a closetful of creative materials and ideas, even as I worked full time as an accountant/school administrator. When the kids grew up and I had the opportunity to retire from full time work, I have been able to focus on creating art. I now have a studio in my home and usually paint every day. I paint primarily with oils and acrylics, while experimenting with encaustic, mixed media, decorative painting and cold wax.
With each piece that I finish, I am inspired by a unique Scripture from God's word. This brings forth the true meaning of my work - seeing and praising the Creator through creation and giving glory to God!
I am excited that lately I have had several commissions to paint bridal bouquets as a keepsake of couple's weddings. This is a wonderful wedding, anniversary or bridal gift! I would love to help you remember your wedding day with a special painting. Many of the pieces on this site already have been sold or donated. Contact me for information on works that are available for sale and pricing or with questions or bridal or other commission requests.
